Our ambassador Rebekka Estermann competes in mountain bike races at the highest level. She's already competed in several races this season—time for a brief look back at an eventful time.
Rebekka faced her first challenge before the important races even started. She had to take a break from training at the end of March due to illness, and as a result, she missed important training blocks. Rebekka said that she felt the impact of her illness-related break and the missed training sessions in the following races—especially because her competitors were able to improve their form during this time.
At the Swiss Bike Cup in Schaan, Rebekka was able to fully utilize her strengths in muddy conditions on the slippery singletrack, which helped her achieve a good result. At the HC (Hors Category) race in Heubach (Germany), Rebekka tried to collect UCI points, but unfortunately, due to adverse conditions and breakdowns, this didn't work out as planned.
After successfully completing her master's thesis, Rebekka took part in the HC City-Race in Chur, where she achieved 25th place despite her mixed form.
At the first World Cup of the season in Nove Mesto, organizational hurdles prevented Rebekka from taking advantage of the full training window on the race track, forcing her to spend several hours getting accredited and picking up her bib number. Despite difficult conditions and mishaps during the race, she still managed to achieve an acceptable placing.
After the race in Nove Mesto, Rebekka finally had time for an intensive training block, the effects of which she could already feel at her home race in Engelberg. The following Swiss Championships in Crans Montana went well, and Rebekka finished 7th in the Short Track Race and 6th in the Cross Country Race. This earned her 50 valuable UCI points, which in turn improved her starting position for World Cup races.
Due to intensive training, Rebekka was physically tired at the following World Cup race in Lenzerheide, but was quite satisfied with the course of the race despite the breakdown.
Rebekka skipped the subsequent World Cup race in Leogang and instead competed in the cross country races in Lostorf and Savognin, where she crossed the finish line first in both races and was thus able to collect further important UCI points.
At the subsequent World Cup race in Val di Sole, Rebekka rode a remarkable race, achieving her best result at this level to date. The grueling battles for position during the race also showed that her hard training had paid off.
In the subsequent C1 race in Davos, Rebekka achieved 6th place after exciting position battles, crossing the finish line 90 seconds after Sina Frei.
Rebekka's dedication to continually improving her performance is impressive. Despite setbacks, mishaps, and fierce competition, she remains motivated and works hard to improve and succeed.
We wish Rebekka continued success for the rest of the season.
