My name is Jan. I'm a tour guide, granfondo/ultra cyclist, and Wheycation Ambassador. Here are my tips for a relaxing ride:
Clothing:
When conditions are uncertain, I check the rain radar to see how the weather is developing. This allows me to plan my ride accordingly, giving me a better idea of what to expect and what clothing I should bring. I always carry a light windbreaker or vest, whatever the weather. Even in summer, it can get quite chilly in the evening when the sun is a little lower or when going downhill. For longer rides, I attach a handlebar bag to my bike so I have more storage space and don't have to lug everything around in my jersey pockets. Life hack: When the weather is uncertain, I pack my smartphone in a mini-grip bag to keep it from getting wet in the rain.
Repair kit:
My repair kit includes a tube, tire lever, cartridges & adapters, a mini tool, and some cable ties. Life hack: A tear in the tire can be covered from the inside with a banknote or the wrapping paper from a bar. This way, you can still drive home without the new tube getting damaged again. The cable ties and the mini tool are useful for any other unforeseen repairs.
Snack:
I take a snack with me on every ride—like the Tour Mix. It helps me stave off a little hunger or gives me motivation when my legs or head feel empty and the walk home feels like an eternity.
Now I wish you a successful and safe trip and great experiences.
